Bristol Sales Report ‘LISKERRET TAKES HOME A WINNER’

The Autumn Simmental Sale at Bristol Sales Centre on Thursday 15th October may not have enjoyed the flying trade experienced in the Spring however Cornwall Club members featured strongly in the transactions.

The Crowgey and Sowenna herds were represented in the bull sections of the showing classes and successfully found new homes in commercial herds for Crowgey Winston, Sowenna Wizard , Sowenna Warlock and Sowenna William.
One bull and two heifers returned to Cornwall.

Stephen and Angela Pearce were delighted to secure Heathrow Winner a May 2008 bull by Glenturk Rolex and out of Darsham Real Treasure a daughter to the famous Darsham Kit Kat, champion at the Royal, Royal Highland and Royal Welsh in consecutive years. Weighing in at 890kgs Winner has been in the ribbons at the Suffolk, Hertfordshire and South of England shows and has an excellent temperament.

Keith, Caroline and Piers Hawkey overcame keen opposition to add Beanhill Wynona, a March 2008 heifer by Celtic Rock, (viewed on the Southern Ireland 2009 Club tour), to their Sowenna herd. With impressive growth rates and high muscle scores Wynona’s terminal score of +28 and self replacing index of +33 will only further enhance the reputation of this Cornish herd. Sowenna has achieved the impressive accolade of most improved UK EBLEX recording herd in 2009, across all breeds, on challenging ground.

Dave Allen also added another interesting purchase to his ‘Penallen’ herd. Farnborough Viola 2nd, a polled heifer by Vinegard Texas is out of a dam by Agardsley Bruno. Viola joins two recent additions from the Clonagh reduction sale, the 5* Euro Rating ‘Clonagh What A Babe’ by Marbelhill Liam and Milton Wendy a sweet November 2008 heifer by Samark Superman and closely related to the Southern Ireland National Junior Cow 2009 ‘Milton Senhorita’.
