Report Bristol Pedigree Simmental Sale – 9th May 2009
The nationwide trend in rising prices for quality cattle sold at pedigree sales was reflected in the improved average prices achieved at the recent Bristol Pedigree Simmental Sale. A reduction sale of the Loxton herd and a small dispersal of the Sabre herd boosted numbers and enticed several new buyers.
The bulls averaged £3116 for the 17 sold a huge increase of £764 on 2008 figures. Viv & Jeff Hall (Chegwidden), Barrie Wynter (Bolankin) and David Nicholas (Pentor) producing a Chyanhal youngster purchased from Penny Lally successfully sold their stock.
The female average increased by £336 to £1615 for the 42 sold. Females from Alreb, Beanhill, Brigstock, Greenfields, Heywood, Oakhill and Sterling found new homes in Cornwall joining Keith, Caroline & Piers Hawkey (Sowenna), David Allen (Penallen) , Steve & Gillian Gummow (Killiworgey) and John & Bridget Olds (Bosahan).
Barrie Wynter with Bolankin Wesley line up for the Male Championship after winning the youngest section of the Junior Bull classes.
