REPORT SOCIETY SALE BRISTOL
THURSDAY 14TH APRIL
After a disappointing autumn sale Society members supporting Bristol were rewarded with a steady trade. From an entry of twenty seven, eighteen bulls came forward selling to an average of £2576.00, an improvement of over £700 and a clearance rate of 83%.
Topping the sale, realising 3750 gns, was Hemingford Abbot weighing 964kgs. A May 2009 bull carrying bloodlines of Starline Klassik and Sterling Nelson 2nd Abbot has a terminal sire index of +29 and self replacing index of +31. The male champion selected by Mr John Dykes, Mendick Herd, Beanhill Banker sired by Beeches Kestrel sold for 3300 gns.
The top female price of 2100 gns went to Messrs Booth and Bell’s Crackley Cadette 106T(P) with her second heifer calf by Vinegard Texas at foot. The female championship was awarded to Chapman Trientalis’s Ash an April 2009 Heywood Statesman daughter with maternal bloodlines back to Sterling Krakajack. Ash has been running with Heywood Warlord by Raceview King and realised 1700gns.
Cornwall members featured in the ribbons with David Nicholas producing Chyanhal Borris weighing 761 kgs to lift 3rd prize in his class and subsequently selling for 2750 gns. Borris a February 2010 son of Corskie Radium was bred by Penny Lally out of Kilbride Farm Eunice 57T by Seaview Prince Charming. Kevin Thomas won the baby bull class with Crowgey Brigadier an April 2010 son of Omorga Prince and Bargus Jamaica Belle. Boasting an eye muscle score of +3.6 and milk figure of +8 Brigadier realised 1950 gns in the sale ring.
Steve and Gill Gummow, attending Bristol sale for the first time, exhibited two home bred daughters of Corskie Reward. April 2009 Killiworgie Aimee was 4th in her class but unfortunately did not make her reserve while November born Killiworgie Amethyst won the junior heifer class and sold for 1200 gns.
