Stithians Report 2010

Simmentals Score at Stithians Show

David Field (Burytown) from Swindon Wiltshire judged the British Simmental classes at the 2010 Stithians Show.

Four heifers maiden or in calf came forward for the first class of the day with the two year old Sterling Noontime’s Wanda selected over the yearlings Sowenna Annie and Foreland Amber.

Sowenna Willow took in the honours in the second class – cow or heifer in calf or with calf at foot and went on to stand reserve champion Simmental.

The last class of the section bull any age was dominated by James Berry’s two entries. Cathedral Atlantis headed the class, and was the eventual Simmental Champion, over Cathedral Adonis both bulls are by Wishful Robson.

Three of the day’s entries were selected to go forward for the best interbreed group. Competing against the dairy as well as beef sections the Simmentals emerged champions ably represented by Cathedral Atlantis, Keith, Caroline & Piers Hawkey’s Sowenna Willow and Steve & Gill Gummow’s senior bull Lakeside Warrior.
