After two very stormy days
and nights a party of twelve gathered at The Prince of Wales pier
for the 11.15 a.m. ferry crossing to St Mawes anxiously studying the
leaden skies. The twenty minute trip passed quickly and those of us
perturbed by the choppy seas beyond the harbour were distracted by
the banter among the Cornwall Club members. A coffee and catch up in the comfort of the
Idles Rocks Hotel was followed by a short stroll the Victory Inn
where an excellent roast lunch was dispatched. By the end of the
meal St Mawes was bathed in sunshine and we walked off full bellies
by climbing the hill to the castle. On the return trip to Falmouth we were
surrounded by a variety of small boats and yachts taking advantage
of the improved weather conditions. We all journeyed home after a
relaxing few hours appreciating the benefits of convivial company
and taking the time to enjoy the beautiful county we live in.
