CORNWALL CLUB ON TOUR (to Ireland ) by Penny Lally

A collection of breeders from cornwall

Went visiting over to Eire

To have a bit of a break

In a hotel by a lake

meeting Simmental people over there

Day one, we took a coach to ‘herd Curaheen’

the home of a fellow named ‘ Wall’

his cattle . .outstanding

hospitality.. abounding

we were more than impressed.. one and all

On day two, in the morning ,to ‘ Clonagh’

Young Garrett to make sales was quite keen

T-Rex his stock bull

A terrific eyeful

One of the best bulls we’d ever seen

Then, off to the Brickleys at ‘Celtic’

A warm welcome awaited, with lunch

We saw wonderful cows

And many, many ‘bow-wows’

Which we viewed with delight, this odd bunch

As we sat enjoying one last cuppa

A serious incident took place

Jeff got locked in the loo

Causing quite a ‘to-do’

As the beads of sweat formed on his face

Amongst others, a former police chief

Tried to unpick the lock if they could

Bent over they huddled

They fiddled and struggled

Firmly locked stayed this panel of wood

Said Angela “it’s only a door

We’ve another with which to replace”

After a great deal of chat

Trying this and then that

Of a solution, there seemed little trace

To the rest , this was all most amusing

The plight of poor Jeff really funny

He was then told to “stand back”

With a thump and a crack

To a cheer, out came one ‘ happy bunny’ !!

Then on Saturday morning to Strokestown

For the National finals we’d go

The sunshine was blazing

The cattle amazing

with spectacular calves at the show

The president made us most welcome

We all so enjoyed a grand day.

Keeping clear of all ‘bogs’

We then went to ‘the dogs’

To bet all our euros away

Thanks Eire for our wonderful visit

In the future we’d like to return

For your welcomes so warm

And your great Irish charm

We’ll be back, to look and to learn.
